Flying to Verona
British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair offer direct flights to Verona from the UK. Cheap flights are available between December and Easter during the off-peak season. If you’re after a budget break, avoid travelling in the summer, especially July and August, as prices tend to soar compared with the rest of the year. There are no direct flights from the USA.

Travel by road
The historic centre of Verona is a limited traffic zone (ZTL) from Monday to Friday between 1000-1330, 1600-1800 and 2000-2200, and between 1000-1330 on Saturday and Sunday.
Luckily, useful park and rides fringe the city. The nearest car park to the city centre is at Piazza Cittadella. If you're staying in a city centre, your hotel can arrange permission for you to drive into the restricted zone.
Traffic in Verona drives on the right and the minimum driving age is 18 years. Speed limits are 130kph (80mph) on motorways, 90/110kph (56/68mph) on country roads and 50kph (30mph) in urban areas. All those without an EU licence must carry an International Driving Permit. A Green Card is useful, though not compulsory for EU nationals.

Routes
Verona is located 160km (100 miles) east of Milan and 114km (75 miles) east of Venice. It is easy to reach either by taking the A4 motorway running between Milan and Venice, exiting at Verona Sud, or by taking the A22 Brennero-Modena motorway, again exiting at Verona Sud and following the signs for the city centre.
Coaches
ATV (tel: +39 045 805 7811; www.atv.verona.it) operates buses from towns and villages in the Verona region as well as from Lake Garda to Verona city centre. It also organises an airport shuttle from the railway station to Vallerio Catullu airport.
Coach services from other European cities are run by Eurolines (tel: +39 0861 199 1900; www.eurolines.it). They arrive and depart at Verona's Porta Nuova station.

Travel by Rail
Services
Rail services from Verona are modern, reliable and affordable. The main railway station in Verona is the Porta Nuova. It is located to the south of the city centre. Both the Milan-Venice line and the Brennero-Rome line run via Porta Nuova.
Regular services also connect with Austria and Germany. You can buy tickets online for paperless travel. You must validate printed tickets in the yellow machines located on the station platforms prior to boarding.

Trenitalia (tel: 89 20 21; www.trenitalia.com) is the national rail company, which runs a fast, efficient and good-value service throughout Italy. It operates daily train services between Verona and all the main cities in northern Italy as well as Florence and Rome.
